The LNG Revival - The Flow & Ebb March 2006
Over the next 5 years, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) will reshape North America's natural gas industry. Currently there are 10 receiving terminals under construction, 6 in the United States, 2 in Canada and 2 in Mexico. As new LNG terminals come into service, we believe competition between suppliers will cause prices to soften, and demand will resume a growth path. In-Depth Reporter February 2004 The United Kingdom Volume 1: Current and Future Potential in the UK: The Official View?
Offshore United Kingdom has been one of the world's most active exploration and production regions for over 34 years. Given this long history one would think that the remaining potential would be minimal, and that the UK oil and gas sector would soon suffer the same fate as one of Henry VIII's unfortunate wives. In fact, many petro-pessimists today believe that the UK oil and gas sector seems to be heading towards a sharp decline in activity.
The two volumes of the In-Depth Reporter examine the merit of this viewpoint, with Volume 1 highlighting current assessments of remaining petroleum potential and Volume 2 oriented towards the current operating environment and opportunities for growth.
Consider this fact: The UK remains self-sufficient in terms of oil and gas production, despite having produced somewhere in the range of 32 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL EQUIVALENT to the end of 2002! |
